Cardi also claimed Shaft "grossly exaggerated" his role in helping her achieve fame, and failed to provide monthly accounting and payments owed to her.

Cardi B has filed a $15 million counter-suit against her former manager Klenord "Shaft" Raphael.

She claims Shaft also tried to control every aspect of her life - putting "barriers between her and people close to her in an effort to maintain complete control over her".

Raphael, who also goes by the sobriquet of Shaft, claims that after he began working with Cardi B after discovering her as an exotic dancer and social media personality in 2015.

According to TMZ, the rapper has struck back with a counterclaim against her ex-manager, a man professionally known as Shaft.

"Shaft conceived, arranged and orchestrated Cardi B's rise to become the biggest music sensation on the planet".

Last week, Cardi B made American chart history by becoming the first female rapper to score two Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping singles, when "I Like It" followed her breakout hit "Bodak Yellow" to Number 1.

Cardi B is not taking the lawsuit from her ex-manager lying down. She claims he wanted to control her relationship with Offset. She later deleted the tweet. However, Raphael alleges that she cut him out of his career after she found success with his assistance. It says the former manager and his companies' behavior is "an egregious and reprehensible breach of all trust and confidence placed in them". Shaft, said Cardi, was trying to tell her who she should and shouldn't see romantically. The documents say that Raphael originally agreed to get 20 per cent commission but after Cardi got a publishing deal with Sony music, he demanded 50 per cent. While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint.
