Manchester City seal £60m deal with Leicester for Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez

While we can't verify for sure that it is Mahrez, it certainly looks to be and the presence of City staffers would seem to confirm it.

Manchester City have been in negotiations for the Algeria global all summer but are close to thrashing out the final details, with a deal likely to be signed off before the weekend.

Here is the photograph - is it Riyad Mahrez?

Mahrez was the subject of four failed bids from Manchester City in the mid-season transfer window and, after a move to the Etihad did not materialise he missed training for over a week, with the Algeria global forced to deny going AWOL.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract will wear the No 26 shirt.

"Watching them from afar has been a pleasure".

Leicester have confirmed the deal is a club-record sale for one of the stars of their Premier League-winning campaign and subsequent journey to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Several positions remain problematic for the Reds and if they are serious about toppling current champions Manchester City next season they must ensure that the right players are added to the squad this summer.

"Riyad is a hugely talented player. He beats defenders and creates space", Begiristain said on the club's website.

He helped the Foxes to a shock Premier League title in 2016, scoring 17 times.

"His moments of magic will live long in the memory as the club and its fans continue to build a long-term legacy for the success delivered by the teams to which Riyad so memorably contributed. He will be welcomed back to King Power Stadium as both an opposition player and a friend of the club".
