George Clooney injured in vehicle accident, reports

Hollywood legend George Clooney sustained minor injuries after being involved in an accident while riding a motorized scooter in Sardinia, Italy on Tuesday morning, according to local media.

Local reports say he was on his way to the set when a vehicle hit the bike he was riding.

Fans were quick to express their relief that the dad-of-two was doing well after the accident, with one tweeting: "I saw George Clooney trending and nearly had a heart attack".

Local daily La Nuova Sardegna reports Clooney's injuries aren't serious, but that he was taken to the John Paul II hospital emergency room.

George Clooney "smashed in to a windscreen" when his scooter collided with a vehicle in Sardinia.

HuffPost UK has contacted George's representatives for comment.

Their outing comes amid reports that the pair are renting a handsome two-storey villa from Ezio Maria Simonelli, an accountant and man close to former Italian president Silvio Berlusconi.

Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea and is over 500 miles from Clooney's villa in Lake Como. The accident took place in Sardinia, Italy, where the actor is now filming his upcoming TV show, Catch-22.

Hugh Laurie also stars as Major de Coverley for the series which has a release date of 2019.
