George Clooney Hurt in Italy Motorcycle Crash, Reports Say

Wife Amal, 40, came to collect him and the couple left in a chauffeur-driven auto.

The famous actor was taken to an emergency room in nearby Olbia, however, his injuries are said not to be serious.

Clooney is now filming TV drama Catch-22 on the Italian island. Local media that had gathered at the hospital said Clooney is believed to have left through a side exit. He has been in Sardinia since mid May, shooting TV series Catch 22, which he is directing and in which he also stars, alongside Hugh Laurie, Kyle Chandler and Christopher Abbott.

The story, set in Italy during World War 2, focuses on Christopher Abbott's character of Yossarian, a US Air Force bombardier who is furious because the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22.

Immediately after the crash, Clooney was transported to a nearby hospital.

Earlier that month George was seen driving around the island on a scooter with Amal clinging on tightly behind him.

It was from that moment George made it his mission to land Amal, later taking her on their first date at a plush London restaurant.

Clooney has a home on the Italian mainland, on Lake Como.
