Manchester United vs Leicester to kick off Premier League season

Social media giants Facebook have won the rights to broadcast Premier League games in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos from 2019 onward.

They missed out on streaming cricket's Indian Premier League despite an offer believed to be around £450m a year ago.

United's season opener against Tottenham Hotspur as well as games against Cardiff City, Chelsea and Manchester City have been selected by Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Also, televised football viewers will also get an early sighting of two of the three newly promoted clubs, as Wolverhampton Wanderers, who finished top of the second tier Championship, play Everton, in the early evening kick-off on Saturday.

The season 2018/2019 in England starts on August 10 with a match between Manchester United and Leicester.

The Reds' trip to Crystal Palace was also pushed back from its provisional date to an 8pm start on Monday, August 20 as part of Sky Sports' coverage plans.

The deal, reportedly worth GBP 200 million over three years is Facebook's biggest push yet into sports broadcasting, having previously streamed some MLS and La Liga games on its platform.

And, finally, the away game against Premier League champions Manchester City on September 1 will now kick off at 5.30pm so it can be shown by BT Sport.
