Beyonce leads S.Africa anti-poverty festival for Mandela

Global Citizen has partnered with the House of Mandela, to form the Be the Generation campaign, inspired by the late South African leader, Nelson Mandela.

Beyonce, Jay-Z and Ed Sheeran will headline a special Global Citizen Festival in honor of Nelson Mandela in South Africa on December 2. The show will be the culmination of the Global Poverty Project's Mandela 100 campaign, a series of worldwide events honouring the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela in his centenary year.

Queen Bey as she is famously known, will be joined on stage by her hip music mogul husband Shawn Carter known as Jay Z, Cassper Nyovest, D'banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams and Chris Martin as well as Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid.

The event will be hosted by the likes of Oprah, Naomi Campbell, Gayle King, Bob Geldof, Forest Whitaker and Tyler Perry. "I cherish everything he taught me about giving, sharing, and forgiving, and I look forward to celebrating his life on December 2nd". In order to obtain a ticket to festival, you are encouraged to take action in the initiatives of Global Citizen.

The Global Citizen organisation is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030.

"Nelson Mandela's life story is a testament to the power of the human spirit and one man's ability to change the world by standing up for what he believed in", Oprah said.
