OnePlus 5 to get faster software updates

This works on Android Oreo and later OS versions.

OnePlus, after a change of heart, has chose to bring Google's Project Treble in OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.

Apart from the Project Treble support, some of the other customizations that the new update brings include UI based improvements and tweaks like a new UI for system app and a revamped weather app.

Previously a representative for OnePlus insisted neither the OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T would be a part of Project Treble. Both the features have been added by the company with the latest Open Beta update. It is through a note that the giant says "After several months of evaluation and hard work, we have finally found a solution to make this possible, and we are very happy to share this good news with you.".

Project Treble is Google's effort at reducing the time it takes for OEMs to receive the new OS and optimise it for its devices and then push out the update.

Project Treble, which is explained below, is mandatory for every Certified Android device launching with Android 8.0 Oreo and above. The key point of the last update concerns the support for Project Treble, which was not at all obvious.

The two smartphone that the company has officialized in 2017 - OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T - are respectively obtaining a new OxygenOS Open Beta 13 (the first) and an Open Beta 11 (the second). With the update, you get a color wheel for customization, which is what a lot of users have been asking for.

A new user interface, more colour customisation options and an improved launcher are just some of the new perks coming to OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T owners. What is that new user interface they are talking about? Also, OnePlus has optimised logic for the contact page in the OnePlus Dialer app. OnePlus has posted the full changelog on its forums.

Aforesaid, OnePlus also made some changes to the default Launcher app, which now comes with improved search tags in the app drawer, "New Installs" category tag in the app drawer and improved app list for hidden space and toolbox. For users running on a stage build, make sure to read the instructions concerned with flashing the update manually before something goes wrong.
