The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) on Sunday, named Deepak Chahar as replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah while Washington Sundar, who was also ruled out, made way for Krunal Pandya in India's T20 squad for the upcoming series against England. He has taken 13 wickets including a 5-wicket haul in his five List-A games.

The 25-year-old fast bowler from Rajasthan impressed one and all during IPL 2018, forming a lethal new-ball partnership with South African quick Lungi Ngidi for Chennai Super Kings.

Bumrah, who has been replaced in the T20 squad by Deepak Chahar, is expected to be fit for the three ODIs, which will take place at Trent Bridge (July 12), Lord's (July 14) and Headingley (July 17). He missed the first two T20I games, both of which India won handsomely, and "subsequently underwent scans and was seen by a specialist", said a BCCI statement.

However, Krunal offers more with the bat than the other two left-arm spinners which makes him the flawless candidate to replace Sundar in the T20 squad. Three games into the tri-series, Chahar has picked up seven wickets with an economy rate of 4.04.
