Calum Chambers signs new long-term Gunners deal

Arsenal coach Unai Emery has however expressed satisfaction while reacting to Calum Chambers' decision to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Signed by Arsene Wenger, Chambers will now continue his career at the club under the management of new boss Unai Emery, who succeeded the Frenchman earlier this summer.

The 23-year-old - whose worldwide career has stalled since joining Arsenal from Southampton in 2014 with the last of his three caps coming four years ago - says he is keen to prove he is worthy of a regular run out for the first team to new manager Unai Emery.

El Mundo Deportivo have reported this week that Barca have rejected four offers already this summer for the midfielder with Valencia, Spurs, Juventus and Lazio all failing to meet the price tag put on the talented passer.

The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place under Ernesto Valverde and started just 6 La Liga games last season with the vast majority of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench. It's a figure which Arsenal may not be prepared to play.

Emery said Chambers would definitely figure in his side in the forthcoming season.

Since Emery arrived, the Gunners have bolstered their squad with the signings of veteran right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, German goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos. He played an important role last season and will be part of my plans this season, ' he told Arsenal's official website.
