Hazardous weather outlook: Lehigh Valley to sizzle as heat, humidity build

The humidity will start to creep in on Sunday morning, so even though the temperatures are in the low to mid 90s, it will feel like it is closer to 100 degrees on Sunday afternoon.

High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s from Saturday through Monday, and humidity could make it feel like 100 to 105 degrees each afternoon, according to an excessive heat watch issued by the National Weather Service.

Those looking to cool off with a dip in Lake Michigan should remember that water temperatures are still on the colder end, Mott said.

Heat comes before the humidity with this set-up.

"The lovely weather for the past several days was courtesy of a strong Canadian high pressure system pumping in very dry air", Ritter said.

Storm Team4 meteorologists are tracking a possible heat wave this weekend. Our hotter temperatures will not be gone for very long. I expect highs to come in around 90 or higher at times. The day will start out mostly sunny and then become partly cloudy by the afternoon. Forecast highs for next Wednesday and beyond are predicted to fall back into the 80s.

The weather service says dry and pleasant weather will prevail today, with mostly sunny skies expected. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday, with highs dipping into the mid- to upper 80s on Monday and the lower 80s on Tuesday. Temperatures overnight Sunday will stay in the high 60s or 70s, also with high humidity.

In the past, heat advisories were issued in NY when the heat index reached 100 degrees or more.

Tuesday: Increasing clouds. Very hot and humid.
