Microsoft exits support forums

You may want to stick to it, but Microsoft will no longer offer you solutions or answers related to Windows 7.

Microsoft has announced that starting next month it will no longer be participating in the technical support forums for Windows 7, 8.1, 8.1 RT and numerous other products. Vole is also stopping support for Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface RT, Surface 2, Microsoft Band and Zune.

As you can see all of the products mentioned are old with mainstream support already ended. Users will still be able to access the forums and get advice from each one, albeit without feedback from a Microsoft employee.

Microsoft did not provide any detailed explanation for this, but a forum moderator wrote the move is apparently being made to "shift support scope".

Microsoft Band - this topic will be locked. However, Microsoft says there will no longer be "proactive reviews, monitoring, answering or answer marking of questions". Microsoft Staff, however, will still be present in these parts of the Answers forum and will instead moderate and ensure a safe and positive environment.

Some of our readers remain loyal users and fans of Windows 7, loathing anything to do with Windows 10.

It is interesting to note that another Microsoft support agent posted a similar announcement in the Windows 8.1 forum highlighting that Microsoft would so for products that "reached end of support".

Every other action by Microsoft reminds us that, maybe, it's time to upgrade to their latest offering: Windows 10. Support that was previously available in the Mobile devices forum will continue in the Other Windows mobile devices topic.
