Kyrie Irving’s future with Boston Celtics up in the air

Trading two seasons of Hayward for one campaign with James is a worthwhile proposition. Entering the playoffs, it seemed that Boston was destined for a early exit but the Celtics would win their first round series 4-3 over the Milwaukee Bucks and 4-1 over the Philadelphia 76ers in the semifinals. "I think that our starting five probably could have changed game-to-game, based on the guys we have on this team and the length". But as they say, anything can happen in the National Basketball Association and Love knows this.

"It's encouraging", said Irving of the Boston experience. "I'd been talking about how great they were, some of their numbers particularly probably didn't look as appealing to the outside looker, but they were always locked in".

"If you're faced with losing him for nothing, they should take Gordon Hayward".

"It was going to be a process coming back", he said.

As for his own future in Boston?

There's recently been some chatter about whether LeBron James could consider joining the Boston Celtics once he opts out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and becomes a free agent this offseason. Pictured: LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers speaks to the media after being defeated by the Golden State Warriors during Game Four of the 2018 NBA Finals at Quicken Loans Arena on June 8, 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio. Plus, Rozier and Morris were crucial leaders on a team that reached Game 7 of the conference finals this season, and trading for James would involve passing on a full year of their services as well. But as was the case in a recent interview with the New York Times, Irving declined to provide it. The Celtics are a different story.

"Just how much versatility we have", Irving said. "Our young guys [have experience] that sometimes other young guys in the league aren't necessarily afforded. That's something a lot of us are excited to see from G". The luxury tax threshold is expected to be $123 million, meaning there's no chance of Boston going out and signing James in free agency without being charged with the harsh penalties associated with this line. From there, the Celtics will hope what they can offer squares with what Irving wants.

"For me, I'm just glad everyone got to learn how special they were on a bigger stage".

Does he have that in Boston? However, do the Cavaliers want to be the team Irving deserts following the season? Without Hayward, Boston still managed to finish second in the East behind the play of fellow All-Star pick up Kyrie Irving and rookie Jayson Tatum, who took over after Irving went down before the playoffs.

Celtics fans have seen the best and worst moments of James' career up close in personal. Watching the Celtics clank three after three, it was hard not to envision what might happen with a superstar who could create his own shot in the lineup.
