‘Dumbo’ First Trailer: Tim Burton Brings Disney’s Lovable Elephant to Dazzling Life

The animated movie that traumatized you as a kid is now a live-action film, adapted by Gothic connoisseur Tim Burton, no less.

While some might have been anxious about how Dumbo would translate into a live action adaptation, the teaser show's there's nothing to worry about.

Dumbo is directed by Tim Burton, who previously helmed the hugely successful Alice in Wonderland for Disney, as well as classics such as Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, and the 1989 Batman. It's also a surprising departure for Burton, whose name has become synonymous with a Gothic flair and kabuki-mask faces. Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Eva Green, Danny DeVito, Alan Arkin, and Nico Parker lead the cast.

Danny DeVito rallies people at a circus, getting them excited about Dumbo, "the awesome flying elephant".

Wednesday, Disney dropped off the first teaser trailer for Burton's live-action update of their 1941 elephant classic. The screenplay of Dumbo is written by Ehren Kruger. "Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) hires him to take care of Dumbo, a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the struggling circus troupe".

The film is set for release next year on 29 March.

Farrell, 42, plays Holt Farrier, seen above in an exclusive first look with Eva Green, who plays aerial acrobat Colette Marchant. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland.
