‘Game of Thrones’ prequel: HBO confirms pilot in the works

It's reportedly going to tackle the dark ancient history of Westeros, chronicling the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

Now, George R.R. Martin-who co-created the project with Goodman-has suggested an ominous-sounding title for Thrones' first successor show.

Goldman will serve as the showrunner.

Fear not because our Maesters have already provided an in-depth look at what the show should involve and it's set to be another cracker for anyone that loves Game of Thrones.

LOS ANGELES- The mythical saga "Game of Thrones" eighth season will be running on channels in the year 2019.

Last year, with the final season of Game of Thrones shown on television, HBO revealed that it had tasked several writers with developing potential Game of Thrones spinoff series that could fill the void left by the pay cable network's biggest show ever. "We're very early in the process, of course, with the pilot order just in, so we don't have a director yet, or a cast, or a location, or even a title".

Martin also offered an update on other possible Game of Thrones spin-offs (HBO wants more than one, because of course they do).

George R.R. Martin is certainly a busy man.

In his blog post, Martin also confirmed that one of the concepts had been "shelved... but that does not mean the others are dead".

On his personal site, Martin discussed HBO giving the green light to Jane Goldman's series, noting that no characters from Game of Thrones will appear, as it's set tens of thousands of hears before the main series. (TVLine has reached out to HBO for comment.) He added: "Everything I am told indicates that we could film at least one more pilot, and maybe more than one, in the years to come".
