After their historic meeting, President Trump shows North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un a sneak peek inside the presidential limo.

On his stroll, Kim had been briefed on urban development plans.

But he also patted the United States president's arm, in an attempt to show control over the encounter.

"Under the circumstances that we're negotiating a very comprehensive complete deal I think it's inappropriate to have war games".

A USA official subsequently told CNN that the two sides intend to sign a document acknowledging progress and pledging to maintain momentum- a broad statement that would suggest some hyperbole in Mr. Trump's pledges of great success.

He gave no further details.

"My meeting with Chairman Kim was honest, direct and productive", Trump said in a media availability following the meeting.

But they were soon smiling and holding each other by the arm, before Trump guided Kim to the library where they held a meeting with only their interpreters.

The two leaders met for a working lunch yesterday at the Istana, a day before Mr Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the Capella hotel on Sentosa. "A tremendous success. We will have a great relationship".

Mr. Kim replied, in translated comments captured by cameras: "The past worked as fetters on our limbs, and the old prejudices and practices worked as obstacles on our way forward".

He later told Mr. Trump: "Many people in the world will think of this as a ... form of fantasy ... from a science fiction movie".

The talks - unimaginable just a few months ago - will focus on North Korea's controversial nuclear programme. Dozens of cameras snapped photos as the two men first came together in front of a background of US and North Korean flags.

"I'm just happy to be a part of it", he told reporters at Changi Airport.

Responding to a query whether he would invite Kim to the White House, the US President said: "Absolutely, I will".

"President Trump recognizes Chairman Kim's desire for security, and is prepared to ensure that a North Korea free of weapons of mass destruction is also a secure North Korea", he added.

He said about half of the cost is for security.

But experts have expressed doubt that Pyongyang would abandon its hard-won nuclear gains after demonstrating rapid progress in their program with a series of missile and nuclear tests previous year.

Trump said Saturday that he believes the North Korean leader will "surprise on the upside".

The event-specific symbol features what appears to be a high-five between a hand representing the US president and one representing the North Korean dictator known for executing his political enemies and exiling large swaths of his nation to prison camps, where they face starvation and torture.

Mr Trump faced some tough questions, including one about Warmbier, the U.S. college student from OH who was arrested and imprisoned in North Korea for 17 months before being returned home in a coma. He suggested, however, that more talks will be needed.

"This guy wants to be around the world, he wants to come to America, he wants to enjoy his life, he wants his people to enjoy this life", said Rodman, adding that Kim is "not a dumb man". But I believed in North Korea. As they entered, Trump injected some levity to the day's extraordinary events, saying: "Getting a good picture everybody? I mean, what world is that we're living in?"

Mr Trump also expressed the US' continued commitment to engage the region and his support for Singapore's chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

"I really, really hope for a good outcome", said Yoon Ji, a professor at Seoul's Sungshin University. About 5,300 were lost in North Korea.
