Atletico Madrid Antoine Griezmann refuses to confirm future plans

Atletico Madrid and France star Antoine Griezmann is set to make a decision on his future this week.

The Atletico Madrid forward has been heavily linked with Barcelona after a season in which his 29 goals and 15 assists helped the Rojiblancos to a second-placed finish in La Liga and the Europa League title.

Barca are seeking a commitment from Griezmann before July 1 as his contract's buyout clause will jump from €100m to €200m on that date.

Griezmann is preparing for France's first World Cup game against Australia on Saturday and insisted it was not the time to draw attention away from the worldwide squad.

'It's good that you're taking an interest, ' Griezmann said after France's 1-1 friendly draw with the USA.

He was just your typical football mad seven-year old in awe of his idols in the flesh at the time, but Griezmann was already in his full kit, wearing the No.7 shirt - a number which he has worn with distinction ever since becoming France's main man.

"I think Cristiano stays at Real Madrid and Antoine Griezmann stays at Atletico", he told Onda Cero.

France coach Didier Deschamps prohibits players from undergoing negotiations during tournaments, pushing Griezmann towards making a decision.

There appears to be no logical reason behind Griezmann delaying the announcement of a new deal, if he is to stay at Atletico, and it would now be more surprising if the forward doesn't switch clubs this summer.

"The World Cup for France starts on Saturday, there is still time".

There's still a week to go [before the World Cup].
