Robert De Niro Says 'F-k Trump' Live at Tony Awards 2018

Cohosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban and presented by the American Theater Wing and the Broadway League, the Tonys were televised on CBS from Radio City Music Hall in NY. So, I dedicate this award to the countless LGBTQ people who have fought and died to protect that spirit.

On Sunday, Angels in America actor and newly minted Tony Award victor Andrew Garfield used his speech to advocate for LGBT rights. "So let's just bake a cake for everyone who wants a cake to be baked". Though "Mean Girls" was nominated for 12 awards, the stage adapation of the Tina Fey film did not win any.

Best Introduction: "I am attractive theater actress, Amy Schumer", said Amy Schumer, introducing My Fair Lady, "a comedy about class and sexism", when Eliza Doolittle is taken under the wing of Henry Higgins, "mans-splaining expert on dialects".

It was a night of contrasts Sunday at the Tony Awards.

"Thanks for making me so welcome on your block", Springsteen said, accepting his award for his phenomenally successful solo show.

The legendary actor urged the audience to vote in November and lauded Springsteen for his own political commitment before the singer sat at a piano for a moving performance based on his Springsteen on Broadway show that had him singing his classic hit, My Hometown. An emotional Mendez, who won for her performance in Carousel, exclaimed gratitude at being part of a community that celebrates diversity.

In her acceptance speech, telling Tony hopefuls to be true to themselves, Mendez said that when she had first moved to NY, she had been told she would need to change her name.

Garfield won best actor in a play for his acclaimed performance in the Angels In America revival, a monumental two-part drama about AIDS during the Reagan years.

Neither Bareilles nor Groban have won a Grammy or a Tony despite selling millions of albums and appearing on Broadway. The tweaked lines paid homage to theater's grueling eight-times-a-week schedule: "I'll see my friends when the contract ends" and "I'm holding on for dear life/someone please check on my kids and my wife". And after 9/11 it was very, very hard for me and so I concealed and I missed so many special events with them. His role in The Band's Visit helped him change his view about his identity.

"Your biggest obstacle", said Stachel of "The Band's Visit", addressing young artists all across the nation, "may turn out to be your objective". The live audience seemed to feel the same way as they gave him a standing ovation. His admission letter to Hogwarts is undoubtedly on its way. The 82-year-old star of her show, the veteran British actress and government official Glenda Jackson, also found herself on the winner's podium at Radio City Music Hall.

DeNiro has been one of Trump's harshest critics in the entertainment industry.
