Son of Ryan O’Neal, Farrah Fawcett charged with attempted murder

Redmond O'Neal, son of actors Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, has been charged with attempted murder after going on what Los Angeles police described as a violent crime spree last month.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office filed charges that include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and battery, the report said. On the last day of the "violent crime spree", O'Neal allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven store in Venice. The police allege that Redmond stabbed one person, cut their face, as well as their upper body.

Redmond O'Neal, seen here at a previous court appearance, was charged with attempted murder on Friday, June 8, 2018, for an incident in early May. O'Neal allegedly left blood evidence and fingerprints at the crime scene, which led authorities to identify him as a suspect through DNA, sources said. The Los Angeles Police Department provided details on each incident.

O'Neal is alleged to have gotten into an argument and punched a stranger on the night of May 2.

Police said they arrested O'Neal because he matched witnesses' descriptions of a man with red ahir and facial tattoos and security footage. Just hours later about 3:30 a.m. on May 3, a man was exiting a convenience store in the 3400 block of Overland Avenue when the victim began engaging the suspect in conversation. "However, once paramedics arrived, the paramedics discovered that the victim had sustained serious stab wounds to the left side of his body", the statement continued.

On the afternoon of May 4, Redmon allegedly stabbed a man on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. Nearby video surveillance captured a man matching the description of Redmond O'Neal walking away from the scene shortly after the victim was found lying on the sidewalk. The suspect became angry and brandished a folding knife, police said.

He pleaded not guilty to second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device and two counts of possessing a controlled substance at the LAX Airport courthouse.

The adult son of Fawcett and O'Neal was picked up by cops Friday after they investigated a slew of violent crimes and other criminal acts that had been taking place across southern California in early May.
