Patriots WR Julian Edelman Facing 4-Game Suspension

News came out on Thursday that Edelman was facing a four-game suspension for a violation of the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy.

Edelman's suspension would seem to open the door a crack for the rest of the teams in the AFC East.

Edelamn missed all of last year with a torn ACL, but the 32-year-old was set to return as one of Tom Brady's top weapons this year.

A Patriots spokesperson tells 7News that the team is "aware" of the report but not commenting on the matter at this time.

As recently as Tuesday, things were trending positive for Edelman, whose knee recovery was far enough along that he took the field at minicamp in Foxboro. New England's first four regular season games are at home against Houston, at Jacksonville, at Detroit and home against Miami.

'And anyone who would suggest otherwise is irresponsible, and just plain wrong'. What they lack outside of Edelman and Chris Hogan are proven performers after trading Brandin Cooks and letting Danny Amendola depart via free agency.

"It's obviously important for everybody and our coaches do a great job of getting us ready", Brady said. "Just some personal reasons for me. I loved it previous year and I'm having fun now, so that's obviously what's most important". "Obviously, I evaluate last season and things I can do better".

He refused to speak about any possible reworking of his contract.

"I've never talked about my contract", he said.

Others who could see a bump in value include tight end Rob Gronkowski along with running backs Rex Burkhead and James White.
