Daryl Impey in yellow as the leader crashes at Criterium du Dauphine

The reigning World Team Time Trial champions could start with only five riders as others had fallen ill, and played no role in the battle for the top spots.

Impey, victor of Monday's first stage and second overall ahead of this stage, rolled over the line for the Australian Mitchelton team in third behind Ackermann and Norway's Edvald Boasson Hagen of Team Dimension Data to take yellow.

Michal Kwiatkowski regained his race lead of the Criterium du Dauphine after Team Sky claimed victory on the third stage team time-trial today.

Team time trial world champions Team Sunweb will be first off the ramp at 14:50 local time with three minutes separating each team.

BMC Racing held on to second place as Lotto Soudal took third, another 16 seconds behind. But we'll defend the jersey.

Italy's Gianni Moscon now lies second, three seconds back, with Spain's Jonathan Castroviejo and Great Britain's Geraint Thomas nine and 21 seconds off the leading pace respectively to complete the Team Sky top four. "We've got several cards to play but it'll still be hard to win, that's for sure".

"It's a wonderful feeling to win as a team".

"I'm so happy that I got no major issues after the crash yesterday".

"We just rode a technically ideal race ... all the guys throughout the entire course".

The 181km fourth stage on Thursday will see riders head into the mountains between Chazey-sur-Ain and Lans-en-Vercors.
