Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain found dead at 61

Celebrity chef, author, and star of CNN's Parts Unknown Anthony Bourdain has died at the age of 61, CNN reports.

Anthony Bourdain was remembered by his friends and colleagues as a "friend to us all" Friday. "His talents never ceased to amaze us".

The CNN statement expressed condolences to his daughter and family but provided no information about memorial ceremonies.

Ripert would also become a reliable fixture on Bourdain's CNN series, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.

CNN made the statement as the second high-profile suicide of an American celebrity this week.

Bourdain was a master of his crafts - first in the kitchen and then in the media. Designer Kate Spade, who built a fashion empire on her signature handbags, was found dead in her NY apartment of suicide on Tuesday.

Bourdain captivated global audiences with his renowned TV series, "No Reservations", in which he showcased the diverse lifestyles, culture, and food from all over the world, and had even featured Malaysia in an episode.

Last year, Bourdain told the New Yorker magazine his idea for Parts Unknown, which was in its 11th season, was traveling, eating and doing whatever he wanted. What do you eat? "Whereas if you sit down with people and just say, 'Hey what makes you happy?" A housekeeper found her hanging with a red scarf around her neck attached to a doorknob at approximately 10:20 a.m. ET.

Suicide is a growing problem in the United States. "I launched an inquiry to determine the precise cause of the death of M. Bourdain".

A US government report released Thursday found suicide rates inched up in almost every USA state from 1999 through 2016.

Anyone ever experiencing feelings that they may want to harm themselves is encouraged to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, available 24 hours a day seven days a week: 1-800-273-8255.
