"American Idol" ended its first season on ABC and some fans weren't pleased with the results. They love you!" Pointing to the judges he added: "And they love you. Caleb Lee Hutchinson's "Johnny Cash Heart" follows at #60, while Gabby Barrett's "Rivers Deep" is #87. "If you can't take the pressure, it's not going to work", said Richie. Maddie broke down in tears at the announcement of her victory, and sang her new single, "Going Going Gone". Lionel said great song selection is important but will come with time and experience. We have already made our predictions that Maddie Poppe could actually win this thing if America strays from it's typical voting criteria.

But Katy reminded the artist American Idol "is like a bubble" and she needs to bring her A-Game once she's in "the big leagues". Katy wants to see Maddie thrive, not just survive, in the music industry.

Round 1 went to Maddie, but Lionel summed up the three performances simply as "massive discomfort". Hutchinson sang "Don't Close Your Eyes" by Keith Whitley, which allowed him to give a more heartfelt and romantic performance than usual. Poppe began to cry and she was then met with a hug from host Ryan Seacrest.

The next performer was Gabby, who opted for Miranda Lambert's "Little Red Wagon".

Singers who were eliminated previously returned to the show and delivered parts of their awesome original songs.

- Poppe is also charting at #144 with her previously recorded original "Don't Ever Let Your Children Grow Up". "I remember when her and her sister sang it was like wow these girls can sing".
