Two UA sports teams post flawless April scores

Teams that fail to reach a four-year average April score of 930, which is the equivalent of a 50 percent graduation rate, or a 940 average for the most recent two years, can be penalized. The University of Arkansas has earned a total of 23 awards since the start of the APR Public Recognition program. "To rank among the top 10 percent of programs in the nation, in their respective sports, is a remarkable accomplishment". The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship.

Other Zag programs honored: baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, men's soccer, women's tennis, men's track and women's track (indoor and outdoor track are combined). The women's golf program has also been exceptional on the course winning a school-record seven tournaments in 2017-18.

Georgia Tech volleyball, under head coach Michelle Collier, earned a Public Recognition Award for the third-straight year and fifth time overall while Alan Drosky's women's cross country squad received the award for the second year in a row and fifth time overall.

The NCAA has recognized a total of 77 Penn State teams with a Public Recognition Award since the program's inception in 2006.

Women's Tennis became the seventh Razorback program to earn distinction from the NCAA as part of the APR Public Recognition Awards. Flood was the Rutgers coach for the first 2 1/2 years of that four-year span.

The NCAA will release the latest full April data on Wednesday, May 23.

This is the 13th year that Academic Progress Rate (APR) data has been collected for Division I schools. The football program had a run of eight straight years of landing in the top 10 percent nationally until a downturn that can be attributed to a rash of player dismissals and transfers late in the Kyle Flood era.

The APR measures the eligibility, retention and graduation of student-athletes.

The University of Arkansas has earned a public recognition award in 12 of the 13 years since the program was initiated.

"Congratulations to our women's cross country, golf, men's tennis, women's track & field and volleyball programs on this outstanding achievement".
