Manchester United step up pursuit of Brazilian

Left-back is a position that Premier League runners-up United are evidently desperate to address, with Luke Shaw having made just eight top-flight starts this season amid a hard relationship with Mourinho.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to lunch a move for Chelsea winger, Willian, to replace the Red Devils forward, Anthony Martial this summer.

Mourinho is expected to have Romelu Lukaku back for the match, though, following a two-week spell on the sidelines since damaging his ankle against Arsenal.

"He was injured in the Friday training session, yesterday he could not train".

Since arriving at United for a world record fee for a full back in 2014, Shaw has suffered multiple injuries, including a nasty leg break, and failed to convince both Mourinho and Louis van Gaal with his performances in training and on the pitch.

"He had treatment in the morning at the training round and he stayed away".

"I do not know if he will be fit for the (FA Cup) final. Let's wait and see, also for Romelu".

United boss Jose Mourinho is planning a significant overhaul of his defensive options this summer, with the left-back slot understood to be one of his main priorities after Ashley Young established himself as the first choice in that position this season.

Mourinho's side do still have the chance to end the season with silverware when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday, though.

The loss, coupled with Liverpool's 4-0 home win over Brighton, ended Chelsea's hopes of securing Champions League football for next season as Conte's defending champions finished five points behind the Merseysiders in fifth.

"Newcastle showed great desire and fight and outplayed us but we didn't play a good game".
