Holy Month Of Ramadan Begins Today

In the holy month, Muslims fast for a full lunar month.

In his message on the occasion of the start of the holy month, Trump said, "In this spirit of thanksgiving and reflection, those observing Ramadan can strengthen our communities, help those in need, and serve as good examples for how to live a holy life".

If the crescent moon is spotted on Tuesday 15 May, it will be announced that Ramadan will begin on Wednesday May 16.

"If the crescent is sighted by Muslims of impeccable character on the said evening, His Eminence would declare Thursday, May 17, 2017 as the first day of Ramadan". If they see it, the following day marks the beginning of Ramadan; if not, then Ramadan will commence the day after.

US President Donald Trump today greeted Muslims observing Ramadan and said the holy month is a time of self-reflection meant to deepen one's spiritual growth.
