Drunken mother disrupts school play, assaults officer, floods jail, police say

But Churchwell's no good, very bad night didn't end with her senselessly flailing at a police officer and sleeping it off in a jail cell.

Christy Ann Churchwell, 35, of Friendswood, which is located southeast of Houston, faces several charges after her arrest Thursday night.

Witnesses said Churchwell was being loud and appeared to be intoxicated.

Officers say they could smell the scent of alcohol on the mom's breath and that she could barely stand on her own two feet.

As Churchwell was being walked to the squad auto, she pulled away, cursing loudly, and assaulted an officer by kicking him.

"Outside the auditorium, Churchwell balled up her fists and aggressively advanced toward an officer", the report said.

When the officer walked Churchwell to the police unit, officials say she pulled away from the officer, cursed at police there and kicked one of the officers.

At her home, a family member said "no drinking" occurred at the school, and added that Churchwell "is dealing with personal issues and is going to get help".

For her alleged aggressive interaction with police at the school, Churchwell was charged with assault of a police officer.

Then police took a look inside her purse and allegedly found eight 75 milliliter bottles of vodka, seven of which were empty. Authorities say this set off the fire alarm, caused flooding and prompted an emergency response.

The jail suffered heavy damage and Churchwell was given another charge of false alarm or report and criminal mischief.

Her bond has been set to $7,500.
