President Buhari Leaves for UK Tomorrow on Doctors Request

But in a tweet on Monday night, Mr Buhari tweeted that he would be leaving for United Kingdom on Tuesday to see his doctor.

Buhari, who travelled to the United States for a meeting with President Donald Trump, had left Washington, D.C. on Tuesday after the Monday meeting.

"I am not in politics for fun, frivolity or to amass wealth", President Buhari said in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu.

"The doctor requested the President to return for a meeting which he agreed to do", he said.

Buhari said on his return to Nigeria from London previous year that he "had never been so sick" and had undergone blood transfusions.

He was speaking at his Bayagida Model Primary School ward in Daura, Katsina State on Saturday, during the launch of the ruling All Progressives Congress's (APC) grassroots elections. "To allow the APC to win means Buhari will continue and that would not be in the interest of Nigerians", he added.

"He said President Buhari "is a rare leader;' he said "I respect him a lot" and said our leader had 'succeeded in cutting down corruption.' He called President Buhari a "valued partner" and a 'strong democrat".

The president spent 103 days in London treating an undisclosed ailment.

In January 2017, the Nigerian leader embarked on a medical vacation in London and returned later than he planned.

"Why did he lie that he merely had a technical stop over in London?"

"We also hope he has transmitted a letter to the National Assembly about this trip".

It recalled that the Nigerian Air Force last week took delivery of two new helicopter gunships for deployment to parts of the country affected by banditry. "If he didn't, that is going against the Constitution".
