Sister of missing Liga Skromane pays tribute after discovery of her body

The headless body found at a plot on the banks of Karamana river at Vazhamuttom, near Kovalam, on Friday is of Latvian tourist Liga Skromane who has been missing for the last 38 days. According to a report published in The Times of India, City police commissioner P Prakash said, "Such deformities can even occur due to decomposition".

The 33-year-old had travelled to Kerala, India alongside her sister Ilze to take part in a wellness retreat on February 4. For Ilze, April 20 happened to be her birthday. Ilze told reporters that she was not satisfied with the police investigation so far.

IANS reports that Liga's sister Ilze and husband Andrew on Saturday identified the body from the dress and the hair.

She wrote, 'On 19th of April I was praying and praying to God to grant me one birthday wish. please let me know where my Sister is, please let us find her, this not knowing is so hard to bare.

Police suspect decomposed body to be of missing tourist (Eds; adding details) Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 21 (PTI) The highly decomposed body, with its head severed, which was recovered from Thiruvallam near Kovalam, is suspected to be of a Lithuanian tourist, reported missing since March 14, police said today.

On March 14, Liga left the treatment centre and was last seen chatting to people at Kovalam beach.

"Only after that can we know more about the nature of the injuries", he said.

Ilze and Liga's husband Andrew Jordan has orchestrated major search efforts to try and find the 33-year-old.

She explained that Liga had suffered from depression after a traumatic family experience a year ago and that the pair had chose to get away for a break.

Liga had arrived in Thiruvananthapuram along with her sister to undergo an Ayurveda Therapy at an Ayurveda healing centre at Pothencode. However, the jacket and slippers were not hers, they said.
