On Friday, around 2,500 people attended the public viewing of Barbara Bush's casket.

Four former USA presidents are among about 1500 mourners gathering at a Houston church for the funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush, the matriarch of one of the country's most prominent political dynasties. The 93-year-old former president arrived at the church shortly after the viewing opened, accompanied by daughter Dorothy Bush Koch. Her son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, friend Susan Baker, and presidential historian Jon Meacham will deliver eulogies. Bush during the service, while her grandchildren- who referred to her as "Ganny" - will also take part in readings.

Lucy Orlando was one of the more than 100 people in line well before bus service began from a separate location to the church. The White House said this week that he wanted to avoid disrupting the service with added security.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bush family", Trump wrote on Twitter, saying he planned to watch the funeral ceremony. Following the service, a motorcade will ferry Barbara Bush's body 90 miles northwest to the George Bush Presidential Library Center on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, near which she will be laid to rest.

On Friday, a total of 6,231 people stopped by the church to pay their respects. A string of mourners began to approach: adults and children, numerous women wearing his wife's favorite color, blue, and trademark pearls.

A hearse containing the former first lady's casket arrived before daybreak at St. Martin's, which is the nation's largest Episcopal church. As her health failed in recent days, she was moved into comfort care at her home in Houston.

Bush, the matriarch of a Republican political dynasty and a first lady who elevated the cause of literacy, died Tuesday.

The former first lady was known for her sharp wit, candor and relentless advocacy for family literacy.

Barbara Bush was known as the "Enforcer" in her family, the glue who kept the high-powered clan together.
