Saturday marks the 11th year of Record Store Day, the annual global jamboree that celebrates the shops that continue to prop up the recorded music industry, often against some pretty stiff challenges. "It's always a good idea to be BFFs with your neighborhood record store".

We asked some of Canada's top musicians what the first record was that they purchased.

What's your best advice for record collectors?

On Friday it was revealed a reissue of Radiohead's album OK Computer had been the best-selling album in independent record shops since last year's Record Store Day.

Today is a special day for audiophiles and record collectors, as the 11th annual Record Store Day hits the UK.

Great things have been happening for the industry since record store day started. Vinyl sales made up 14% of all physical album sales previous year and the top sellers included the Beatles, Ed Sheeran, Pink Floyd and the soundtrack to La La Land. The album, which was originally released last December, was recorded during the band's final tour with late frontman Chester Bennington before he passed away in July of 2017. Big name retailers like Barnes and Noble and Amazon offer deals and subscription services like Vinyl Me Please, which are helping to increase sales. The Record Store Day edition will arrive on blue translucent vinyl and be limited to 2,500 copies.
