The judge ordered that Cohen himself be present Monday so that he could answer questions about his clients.

Cohen has not been charged with anything.

Last week's raid of Cohen's office and residences infuriated the president, who argued on Twitter that attorney-client privilege "is dead".

Alternatively, Cohen could provide a very short list to the court.

Prosecutors said the raid on Cohen's office was the result of a "months-long investigation" into Trump's personal lawyer, and that the crimes largely relate to Cohen's "own business dealings". Previous search warrants allowed NY federal prosecutors to search multiple email accounts, the filing said. In a tweet, he also responded to Trump's comment about how "all lawyers" are feeling after the Cohen raid.

Prosecutors suggested in their filing that while Cohen "holds himself out as a practicing attorney", he is actually exaggerating the extent of his work in an attempt to cast a wide net of attorney-client privilege over the records seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Now, the president's legal team has made what's considered an extraordinary request that may delay the Cohen investigation. Mueller's office referred the case about his business dealings to NY but hasn't been involved since, the Manhattan prosecutors said.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were seeking communications between the President and Cohen concerning the "Access Hollywood" tape that surfaced prior to the 2016 presidential election, CNN reports.

Cohen made a similar argument last week.

Cohen and Trump's legal teams said that numerous seized materials were communications that were private and fell under attorney-client privilege.

According to several reports, Trump's lawyers filed papers Sunday to stop any review of the materials - which were seized during Federal Bureau of Investigation raids of Cohen's home, office and hotel room last week.

Cohen has petitioned the US District Court for the Southern District of NY, seeking a temporary restraining order to delay prosecutors' review of documents and devices seized in the raid, claiming it's protected by attorney-client privilege.

Daniels's lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said that she would be in federal court Monday to watch Cohen's hearing.

Stormy Daniels an adult movie star and director that the name is Stephanie Clifford is interviewed by Anderson Cooper of CBS News' 60 Minutes program in ancient March 2018, in a still picture in video given March 25, 2018.

Citing unidentified sources, McClatchy said on Friday that investigators for Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is also probing possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign, had proof Cohen entered the Czech Republic through Germany. The taint team would be allowed to object to any of the documents that the president claims privilege on. Cohen's lawyer is asking for the lawyers themselves to review the material or a "special master" to decide what is relevant to the case, and Hendon is concerned about a taint team or however the material is handled.

What's at stake in the legal fight that Michael Cohen's attorneys are undertaking in Manhattan is admittedly complex.
