Kellyanne Conway is Concerned About a Self-Centered Liar Hogging the Spotlight

"This guy swung an election", Conway told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America" on Monday.

Trump, meanwhile, tweeted a slew of insults at Comey, whom he fired in May.

Huh. So it seems Conway is criticizing Comey for swinging the election for Trump, something that Conway and Trump benefitted from, I guess?

Conway's comment, a reference to Comey's October 2016 announcement that the FBI had restarted its investigation into Trump's Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, contradicts the White House's long-standing position.

In Conway's opinion, Comey was trying to sell books - not save the country. On Sunday, Comey said he felt that sending the letter was the right thing to do.

First, I have no doubt that Trump is very sincerely confounded at Comey's ability to grab the spotlight.

After James Comey was sacked as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation last May, many wondered when and if the former director would speak out. "He was a very deft way of making things about him".

"He struggled to answer basic questions", Conway added, further showing how unimpressed she was with Comey's interview. "He loved being alone in the Oval Office".

Conway and the Trump campaign previously credited Trump's surprise victory to a number of factors, none of which were the Comey letter. "And now, at the end of your interview, George, he gave a free political commercial, telling people to go out and vote against the president and his interests".

When asked about Donald Trump's thoughts on the James Comey interview, Conway responded, "The President thinks that Jim Comey is engaging in revisionist history".

Appearing separately on CNN on Monday, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said "it's part of our job to push back". "As I said dozens of time, Hillary, not Comey, is why Hillary lost", she wrote. "He has taken his private conversations with the president and monetized them".
