Vincent Kompany's EPIC speech in Manchester pub after City become champions

The league triumph was delayed following the surprise 3-2 defeat at the Etihad Stadium last week but after City beat Spurs 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday, coupled with Manchester United losing 1-0 to West Brom, the league's worst team, City are officially champions.

While City boss Pep Guardiola said he would be playing golf while the United match took place and a handful of players were reportedly out of the country, captain Kompany was at home watching the drama unfold with his family.

City could become the first Premier League club to reach the 100-point barrier should they claim 13 points from their final five games and need just nine to surpass Chelsea's record haul of 95 in 2004-05. "I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy and proud to be able to share this with all of our fans, everybody who's been there to support us especially in this last week as many know it's been very hard but at the same time we've bounced back, we're champions now and thank you to all of you, It's an incredible season".

'We all believed in it, otherwise it wouldn't happen, ' Kompany said.

"As much as I'm going to celebrate today, I'm going to see if any of the lads are still up for it on Wednesday for us to have a good training session and build up to the next games as well".

"You can't take it for granted...before you know it, it's gone".

"Today I'm happy. I suppose my team-mates will probably roll their eyes a bit but now I want to see the reaction".

And he led Bayern Munich to Bundesliga glory in each of his three years at the Allianz Arena.

"At my age, you can still learn and we share one thing: that hunger and desire never to be satisfied".

"Everyone that plays under him will have had success because of him, because he has the ability to unlock the full potential". There was a period of adaptation for him coming into the league and for us taking in his methods.

"I noticed within the first month that if I'd met him at 18 or 20 [years old] then I would've been the ideal player for him", Kompany said. We live and survive by the strength of the team.

"These guys are fantastic, awesome - they are incredible".
