Tigers postpone Saturday game against Yankees

With AP Photos. Both games of Sunday's doubleheader between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers have been postponed because of rain. All tickets from Saturday's contest that was rained out will be valid on Sunday night, while tickets from Sunday's cancellation can be used on the to-be-determined make-up date. The Tigers were scheduled to be off, while the Yankees would have been traveling between games in Baltimore and Toronto. The games will be made up in a split doubleheader on June 4. This decision coincides with this year's baseball calendar schedule including four extra days off for teams. The first game is scheduled for 1:10pm and the second game for 7:10pm. Both games will be televised on FOX Sports Detroit.

The mixture of cold, ice, hail and snow ripping through MI postponed baseball games for the Lansing Lugnuts and the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

The Tigers next host the Orioles for a three-game series starting Tuesday.

The multiple rainouts this weekend have also altered the Tigers' rotation for that upcoming series vs. Baltimore.

The Tigers plan to start Francisco Liriano on Tuesday, Matthew Boyd on Wednesday and Jordan Zimmermann on Thursday. Detroit ranks second-to-last in all of baseball in team batting average (.216) through Friday's 8-6 loss to the Yankees; 25th in team slugging (.327).
