Shenmue Remaster Collection launching in 2018

It will be coming to Xbox One and PC alongside PS4.

Shenmue 1 and 2 will have a 2018 release date for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Slash Gear, for one, is calling the newly announced releases an HD remake of the original.

While the games haven't been fully remastered from the ground-up as such, players will still be able to enjoy a bunch of new features, including a revamped user interface, modern control options, English and Japanese voice acting, and fully scalable screen resolution.

Like we said, Shenmue 1 and 2 will be hitting modern platforms sometime later this year. The official announcement trailer is not enough to base on, either, since Sega noted at the start that "This trailer uses pre-release footage, and represents a work in progress".

The games will be released in both physical and digital formats, and they'll feature improved textures, which should come as a relief to anyone who remembers the original Dreamcast versions. The long-anticipated follow-up, Shenmue III, is also due for release later this year following a highly successful Kickstarter campaign.

The recently announced remasters for Shenmue and Shenmue 2 will be an opportunity to get better acquainted with the Shenmue lore before the crowdfunded third title arrives and a YouTuber has revealed the HD collection will cost $29.99.

Shenmue is a tale of retribution as Ryo Hazuki seeks out to avenge his father's death and attempts to unravel the secrets behind a mysterious artifact known as the Dragon Mirror.
