Kane Williamson Guides Sunrisers Hyderabad to Third Consecutive win

Two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) young pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti was on Saturday ruled out for the season with a foot injury, a statement said.

While Rashid Khan went for 31, the efforts of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake and Shakib restricted Knight Riders to 138 for eight.

Having lost Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha and Manish Pandey early, Sunrisers found themselves in untested waters but skipper Williamson led from the front with a well-compiled half-century, guiding Sunrisers to their third straight win in the season.

KKR, who invested heavily in bagging the services of the 19-year-old in this year's mega auction by shelling out INR 3.2 crore, become even thinner with their bowling resources.

But Williamson's serenity and composure rose above everything else.

For the hosts, opener Chris Lynn (49; 34b 7x4 1x6) was the top-scorer as skipper Dinesh Karthik laboured to a 27-ball 29 hitting two fours and a six.

The #OrangeArmy has landed in Kolkata and the Eagles are ready to meet the Knights tonight at Eden Gardens.

Captain Dinesh Karthik did the right thing to introduce Narine and Kuldeep early into the attack, but why he kept debutant Shivam Mavi - who replaced the misfiring Ranganath Vinay Kumar - waiting till the 15th over was baffling to say the least. (Tom) Curran bowled well considering it was his first game.

Shakib gave away just 21 runs in his four overs while bagging the important wicket of Chris Lynn who had been looking to take the bowlers to cleaners. Bhuvneshwar returned to the Sunrisers line-up in place of Sandeep Sharma, who had replaced him in the last game.

Rana hit Stanlake firmly just wide of Pandey, who showed fantastic reaction to grab it on the second attempt and give SRH the breakthrough in four balls after play resumed.

Bhuvneshwar took little time to make his presence felt.

Delhi have issues to address especially in their bowling department which has failed to deliver in each of the three games played so far.

Lynn and Nitish Rana then batted sensibly.
