Flash flood warning in effect for Hawaii island, Kauai

As more heavy rain and thunderstorms pass through the area, a flash flood watch will remain in effect in parts of southeast Louisiana and southern MS until 6 a.m. Sunday (April 15), according to the National Weather Service.

With this amount of rain, combining with wet or frozen ground, the Conservation Authority says rivers and steams in the watershed could expect elevated flows. Excessive rainfall may lead to flash flooding along creeks, streams and low lying areas.

Many areas of the island were without power overnight due to lightning.

A flash flood watch indicates that weather conditions make flooding possible but not certain. This is why a Flood Watch has been issued until Monday at 4 a.m.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Drivers who fail to obey road closures, traffic signs and speed restrictions amid the hazardous conditions could face increased fines - especially if emergency responders are called in to help, the governor's office said. "Water levels will remain elevated throughout next week".

Another round of rain is on the way Sunday afternoon, which means more flooding and landslide concerns.
