Daryl Worley arrest: Details emerge about ex-Eagles cornerback

Former Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers cornerback Daryl Worley was charged with several offenses a day after cops found him drunk and passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle.

"He's obviously very disappointed that he's involved in a situation", Worley's attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr., told Channel 6 Sunday night.

Worley, 23, was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with Carolina Panthers for receiver Torrey Smith at the start of National Football League free agency last month.

However, it ends up being a wash since the Eagles were going to release Smith anyway. Philadelphia won't have any cap penalties for releasing Worley. The Eagles began their offseason workout program at the NovaCare Complex on Monday.

The Eagles faced an embarrassment earlier in the off-season when Michael Bennett, who plays as a defensive lineman was also arrested for getting into a scuffle with a disabled officer at Super Bowl LI in Houston, Texas.

The Philadelphia Police Department responded to PennLive's request for information to confirm Worley's arrest and charge but did not provide more details. The Carolina Panthers took Worley in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and he started 25 games for the Panthers in his first two NFL seasons.

The Eagles made a decision to send a clear message to its roster of players by coming down hard on 23 year old Daryl Worley. "I have a great support system in place and can go to them for whatever I could ask for".
