Israel says US-led strikes have enforced Syria red line

Confirming the airstrikes on Syria, Trump said the attacks are a "direct result" of Russia's failure to keep Syria's Assad from using chemical weapons, news agency ANI reported.

"US president, United Kingdom prime minister and the president of France are criminals", Khamenei said in a speech cited by Iranian TV.

He says the overnight operation carried out by the United States, France and Britain followed that example. "These are not the actions of a man; they are crimes of a monster instead", Trump said.

Netanyahu said Israel would not allow Iran to establish itself in Syria, according to his office.

Iran is a major supporter of the Bashar al-Assad regime, whose forces violently cracked down on pro-democracy protests in 2011, triggering a deadly civil war that killed thousands.

"Right now we have no additional strikes planned", he said. "The American, French presidents and the British Prime Minister are criminal", he said.

Following the joint attack in Damascus against the Assad regime, Russia's ambassador warned that there will be consequences for the US-led military strikes on Syria, adding that it was unacceptable to insult Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, Turkey on Saturday welcomed Western strikes targeting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime as an "appropriate response" in retaliation for a suspected chemical attack that left dozens dead.

The drone had apparently entered from Syrian territory into Israeli airspace for 90 seconds before Israel shot it down. Officials also said the strike was larger than a similar attack on the Assad regime launched a year ago.

The Syrian government has strongly denied the allegations.

The army statement was released soon after the leader of Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group said the airstrike that killed seven Iranians was a "historic mistake".

Berman, they added, "can prevent further disparity in Mr. Atilla's treatment" by taking into account the leniency afforded those banks and their employees, both USA and non-US citizens, who violated sanctions. He's also going to hold the Russians and the Iranians who are propping up this regime responsible.

Trump said that the goal of the response "is to establish a strong deterrent against the production, spread, and use of chemical weapons", Trump said.

Trump's United Nations ambassador, Nikki Haley, said the president had not yet made a final decision, two days after he tweeted that Russian Federation should "get ready" because a missile attack "will be coming" at Moscow's chief Middle East ally.
