Philadelphia successfully covered the seven-point spread, and the game went over the total of 212 points.

The 76ers were 18 of 28 from 3-point range. But even if all those shots aren't dropping, they won't be significantly easier to guard in Game 2 on Monday. Olynyk and James Johnson, who closed with 13 points, three rebounds and four assists, were leading the charge.

Philadelphia took command in the third quarter, in which the Sixers outscored Miami 34-18.

The Toronto Raptors edged a tight game against the Washington Wizards 114-106, with Serge Ibaka having 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Anthony Davis had 35 points as the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Portland Trail Blazers 97-95. Ilyasova buried a 3-pointer to make it 79-66 with 4:30 left before the 76ers took the 12-point lead into the final quarter. Bellinelli and Ilyasova were vital midseason additions for Philadelphia. Whiteside finished with two points, six rebounds, two blocks and two turnovers before exiting for good with 7:54 left to play in the third quarter.

Kelly Olynyk scored 26 points off the bench for the Heat. Embiid is a first-team All-NBA candidate as well as Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

Embiid will likely return to the court at some point in this series.

Decked out in his protective mask, Embiid was in attendance for Game 1 Saturday to ring the ceremonial bell prior to tip-off. "The Process", a series of horrific seasons that resulted in high draft picks, appears to be complete as the Sixers enter the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the league. The second game of the series is set for Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST.
