Kotak Mahindra Bank Expels Assistant Manager For Celebrating Kathua Gangrape Victim's Death

The Kerala police on Saturday registered a case against Vishnu Nandakumar, the Kotak Mahindra Bank employee who lost him job for derogatory remarks against the eight-year-old girl who was raped and murdered in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.

Vishnu, referring to the 8-year-old girl had said on Facebook that it was "good that she was killed at this age itself". However, when Vishnu posted the comment isn't clear but in no time the post was widely shared and by the users and the Facebook page of the bank was flooded with outrages demanding the manager's termination. Otherwise, she would have grown up and come back as a suicide bomber against India."Over 34,000 comments were posted on the bank's FB wall seeking his dismissal".

Nandakumar was working an assistant manager at Kotak Mahindra Bank's Kochi office in Kerala.

"Soon after Nandakumar, who claimed to be a relative of BJP state general secretary AN Radhakrishnan, posted the message, netizens took to social media with a hashtag campaign "#dismiss_your_manager". Many had even posted pictures of Vishnu wearing the RSS uniform and told the bank that he was a blot on society.

Late on Friday, Kotak Mahindra Bank in a statement said that it has terminated the services of Vishnu. It is exptremely disheartening to such comments being made in the aftermath of such tragedy by anyone including an ex-employee. "We strongly condemn this statement", the post read.

Kotak Mahindra's decision earned the bank instant plaudits with many applauding it for keeping its "conscience" alive.
