Red Flag Warning Issued For Several Eastern Ky. Counties

State officials are warning that "low relative humidity, high winds, and spiking heat will bring extreme fire danger to Colorado, specifically along the Front Range and the southern portion of Colorado".

Tonight: It could still be breezy overnight. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag warning is in place from 11 a.m.to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m.to 9 p.m. on Thursday.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued from 12pm today through 8pm this evening for Howard, Allegany, Prince Georges, Charles, and Montgomery counties in Maryland along with all counties in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. This time, we'll have a Wind Alert Level Two: meaning we could get gusts to 50+ miles per hour.

Fire Weather Watches have already been posted by the National Weather Service (NWS) covering northern and western Virginia for Thursday afternoon. Blowing dust is possible. Lows drop to the 30s and 40s under mostly clear skies. Strong-cross winds could cause problems on north-south roads.

With some areas potentially receiving gusty winds up to 40 miles per hour, humidity dropping to 20 percent and low fuel moistures, it's a sort of ideal storm for fires to quickly get out of control. Any fires that start have the potential of spreading rapidly. Temperatures will drop as well, only climbing to the 40s and 50s.
