Nicolas Cage finally gets his Superman shot from Teen Titans

Warner Bros. previously announced the involvement of Will Arnett ("The Lego Batman Movie") and Kristen Bell ("Frozen"), but the Cage casting is notable for the actor's long obsession with the character and the intrigue around "Superman Lives", which was announced, but never filmed.

Also making cameos in the the upcoming animated movie (hitting cinemas 27 July) that takes the young heroes of the Cartoon Network show Teen Titans GO! to the big screen are Halsey as Amazon princess Wonder Woman and rapper Lil Yachty as Green Lantern. Existing in the same continuity as their insane yet still active show on Cartoon Network, the Teen Titans find out that other DC superheroes seem to have films produced, so they seek out the flawless director for their debut on the big screen, but an old enemy has other ideas planned for them.

The latest Teen Titans GO! film, for instance, is the flawless opportunity to fulfill the actor's lifelong dream, and he was sure to leap (tall buildings in a single bound) at the opportunity. And best of all: Nicolas Cage will play Superman.

If you doubted his fanboy credentials, the actor named his son Kal-El (Clark's Kryptonian birthname), once owned a rare issue of Superman's 1938 comic debut - though sold it for $2.1 million (£1.5 million).

Look, 2018 is going to be a great year for Nicolas Cage.

And then we have Nic Cage, who - well, I have no idea why they selected him for this role. The development and cancellation of the infamous project was chronicled in the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? in 2015. The real stars are Robin (Scott Menville), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Raven (Tara Strong), Cyborg (Khary Payton), and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes). If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. "The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line".
