Jets Working On A Deal With Teddy Bridgewater

At 38, McCown is the veteran quarterback the Jets want mentoring a rookie signal caller and Teddy Bridgewater, who is reportedly working on finalizing a deal with NY.

This marks the second quarterback the Jets are expected to sign, joining Josh McCown. The Vikings have since moved on to Kirk Cousins, while Bridgewater lands in NY with a chance to prove everyone wrong.

The Jets had always expressed an interest in re-signing McCown as their fallback option - and they may not be finished. They still hold the No. 6 pick in the draft and could very well use it on a quarterback to sit behind McCown and Bridgewater. At age 38, McCown was able to stitch together his best season as a professional, coming up with career-best figures of 2,926 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and a 67.3 completion percentage. He also tied for the team lead with five rushing touchdowns.

With Bridgewater signing, the best-remaining bridge quarterback in free agency is AJ McCarron and the one team in desperate need of a starting quarterback is Buffalo.

McCown's season ended prematurely after suffering a fractured left (non-throwing) hand, which required surgery, in a Week 14 loss to the Denver Broncos. They went 5-8 with him in the lineup, failing to win a game after his injury.

Neither the team nor player has high expectations from the general football public in 2018, which sets this up for a ideal test run.
