Bihar bypoll results 2018: RJD leading in Jehanabad,Araria; BJP ahead in Bhabua

Counting of votes for by-elections in Araria Lok Sabha seat and Bhabua and Jehanabad Assembly constituencies in Bihar began amid tight security today, officials said. The seat was earlier held by Yadav's father Mundrika Singh Yadav, who passed away previous year following prolonged illness.

After eighth round of counting, BJP is leading BJP leading in Bhabua with 19,738 votes and RJD is leading in Jehanabad after tenth round of counting with 29,551 votes. Phulpur bypoll results 2018: Samajwadi Party's Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel leading by 9924 votes with 87,272 votes, BJP's Kaushlendra Singh Patel second with 77,348 votes after eight round of counting.

Now RJD leads with 32,554 votes.

This is the first electoral battle in the Bihar since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who also heads the JD (U), walked out of the alliance with the RJD and the Congress and joined the BJP-led NDA a year ago.

Araria: In Araria, BJP's Pradeep Kumar Singh was in the lead after one round of counting.

In Bhabua assembly seats however Congress is trailing.

PM: The bypoll of two Bihar assembly seats has both main contenders evenly poised with BJP leading in Bhabuaand RJD leading inJehanabad.

The results are expected to be declared by afternoon.

Now BJP is leading with 23,640 votes.

In Jehanabad, the RJD hopes to retain the Assembly seat that fell vacant after the death of Mundrika Yadav.

A total of 12 candidates are in contention at Jehanabad seat.

The RJD-Congress alliance is upbeat after a good voter turnout in Araria, Bhabua and Jehanabad and expressed confidence that the alliance candidates will win.

In Araria, Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Pradip Kumar Singh is leading over RJD candidate Sarfaraz Alam.
