Sony Xperia R1 and Xperia R1

Sony launched the Xperia R1 and R1 Plus in India past year in October with Android 7.1 Nougat running out of the box. A user posted screenshots of the software update on their V30, which seems to include a few changes to the notifications window and a new settings app.

Apart from that, FoneArena cites user reports to claim the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus will also get features such as Xperia actions - an intelligent service that suggests actions based on interaction with games on the phone, contextual menus for app shortcuts, reminders for unfinished emails and messages, and more.

Now, we have some exciting news if you are using a Sony Xperia R1 or Xperia R1 Plus as the Android 8.0 Oreo update has now been released by Sony for both the above-mentioned smartphones.

The Sony Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus smartphones both sport a 5.2-inch display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution and are powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset.

The Xperia R1 Plus is backed by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the R1 features a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. HTC, on the other hand, has started pushing the Oreo update for the U Ultra, its very first flagship offering from 2017. On the front is an 8-megapixel sensor. As far as the update is concerned, this update has been released by Sony in India.

The company has announced the Android Oreo update for Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus on its official Twitter handle. The update arrives as version 2.19.400.1 in some regions while in others it is arriving as version 2.19.709.2. Since this is a major Android platform update the file size is quite large at 1.7GB so users will certainly want to connect their device to a good Wi-Fi network before they download the update. Users are usually notified when an update is ready, but they can also check by going into the Settings applet and into the System Update screen.
