Russian Athlete Rumyantseva Wins Gold in Ski Race at Paralympic Games

During the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in February, Russian athletes were allowed under the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) banner.

Quoting South Korean cross-country skier Sin Eui-hyun, Moon also directed his officials to review whether it is possible to increase local media coverage of the Paralympics.

The first US gold of these Paralympics was the first USA gold in the biathlon, with Kendall Gretsch winning the women's 6km sitting biathlon, with teammate Oksana Masters capturing the bronze.

Laurie Stephens captured the bronze win women's sitting downhill skiing.

"It's my first Paralympics, first race, so it's just a great way to kick off the week and hopefully there is more to come", Gretsch said. Cnossen is a former Navy Seal who lost both legs in an explosion in Afghanistan. The silver went to Dzmitry Loban, the husband and coach of Hrafeyeva, making it a double success for Belarus and the family.

Armstrong got his first goal late in the second, driving to the net and wiring a short-side shot up and over Swedish netminder Andreas Nejman to get Canada to an even dozen after 30 minutes.

Ramsay and Jepsen look to add another medal in the women's standing category. Marie and guide Jack Leitch won the first Canadian gold in the visually impaired downhill.

Knight has already won silver medals in the downhill and super G events at the Winter Paralympics 2018.

The 17 goals are tied for the second-most scored by Canada since Hockey Canada took over the sledge (now para) program in 2004. Italy beat Norway 3-2 in the penalty shootout in a nerve-racking opening game.

McKeever never lost a step - although Canada's flag-bearer at these Games admitted to thinking he might. The NPA was defeated by Germany 9-4, while Canada won 8-0 over Switzerland.
