Officials said the unidentified driver had been arrested and there were no injuries.

The incident happened on Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 36th Street.

Two people then approached the driver, shouting and banging on the window.

A hit-and-run driver's vehicle was attacked by an angry mob who battered it with sledgehammers after he tried to flee the scene of a huge crash.

In the video, the driver in a wrecked silver Infiniti SUV, tries to reverse from the scene of the crash.

Police said an officer who was unaware of the hit-and-run crashes tried to pull over the SUV Lagutenko was driving on Federal Highway and 48th Street because Lagutenko was driving recklessly and the officer noticed the extensive damage to his SUV.

Multiple drivers can be seen in the video trying to stop the SUV from leaving.

In a video from the second crash scene, a man could be seen swinging a hammer at the windows of Lagutenko's SUV, breaking some of the glass.

"That is insane. You have a crash, you stop", said witness Anthony Jimenez, who drove by after the incident took place. "(Don't move!"). The man stood near the wheels of the vehicle and the driver then proceeded to accelerate.

Despite the man's attempt to flee, police say he was ultimately found and taken into custody.

But the driver would not pull over, so the cop backed off because of the Miami PD's no-chase policy for non-violent crimes.

Police added they do not encourage witnesses to try and stop someone from leaving the scene, rather get a good description of the vehicle and contact authorities.
