Apple makes deal for its first animated series with 'Bob's Burgers' creator

The series comes from the creator/executive producer of the Emmy-winning Fox/20th TV animated comedy series Bob's Burgers Loren Bouchard, who co-wrote it with the Bob's Burgers' executive producer Nora Smith and actor-writer Josh Gad (Frozen).

The show, developed with 20th Century Fox Television, will follow a group of Central Park caretakers who rally to save the park.

Bouchard and Gad executive produce alongside Brillstein Entertainment Partners, with Smith serving as consulting producer. There will be 13 episodes in each season and Apple has ordered two seasons of this new series so far.

Variety notes that this is a unique move for 20th Century Fox to sell one of its animated series as it has held on to most of its popular content like The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad!

Further information, including a production and premiere timeline and platform for Apple's content, has yet to be announced. Reese Witherspoon is also producing a comedy series for Apple with SNL alum and Wonder Woman 2 villain Kristen Wiig attached to star.

No word as yet on how long it's going to be before Apple starts distributing this new animated comedy series.
