Telangana council chairman hospitalised after getting hit in eye by headphone

The session will begin with the Governor's address and the state government is likely to introduce the State Budget, the last one of the present TRS regime, on March 15. Congress MLAs and MLCs stood up holding up placards, trying to shout over Narasimhan.

Goud, who was hit on his right eye by the headphone, was first checked by a duty nurse at the Assembly and was then taken to the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital for a full check up and possible treatment. Soon after the Governor began his address, Congress members raised protests on farmers' suicides and the crisis in agriculture sector. His cornea is believed to be partially damaged.

They tore copies of the speech and flung it in the air while a few MLAs also broke microphones and threw them towards the podium.

That is when Congress's Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was seen in a video standing on a bench and throwing his headphone, apparently aiming at the Governor. "They came to the House planned to create disturbances".

Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan has said that the state government is striving hard to achieve "Bangaru Telangana" by taking up developmental and welfare programmes. "What would have happened if the headphone hit the governor, causing him injuries?" The ruckus continued in the house while the governor quickly completed his speech and left the hall.

He said the authorities of the assembly have been directed to go through the records of the proceedings and submit a report.

"Though democracy allows everyone to protest, such acts of violence are unfair, uncalled for", said Swamy Goud.

The chief whip of Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the legislative council, P Rajeshwar Reddy, alleged that Reddy was in an "inebriated condition" and had "malicious intention to attack the ruling party members".

The governor, in his address, said Telangana, the youngest state of the Indian Union, had become a role model for the entire country.
